Is 1 cup of sugar per half gallon of figs a good amount for fig preserves (plus a lemon)?

Please do not give me links to recipes. I know how to use a search engine, unlike some people who ask things here.

I want opinions of cooks.

Is 1 cup of sugar per half gallon of figs a good amount for fig preserves (plus a lemon)?
My pectin box instructions say:

Fig - yield 8-8 oz jars

5 cups ground or crushed figs

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup lemon juice

7 1/2 cups sugar

1 package pectin

I've followd the instructions on the pectin box for plum, straweberry and apricot preserves. I've never tried fig, but if the others worked, I don't know why this one wouldn't. I hope this helps!
Reply:That's good to know. We have two fig trees, I've just never tried to make fig preserves. Maybe I will... Thanks! Report It
Reply:It totally depends on the sweatness of the figs. the problem with figs is they do not contain alot of pectin. This helps to solidify the preserve so you can spread it. You can buy the pectin in your local shop and usually contains sugar so you will add even less sugar. There will be a recipe for the preserve on the box of pectin ( usually explains how much to use depending on which fruit you use.) Hope this helps.
