I'm trying to find figs to make fig wine. Does anyone know where to find them?

Whole Foods ALWAYS has them.

Reply:have you ever tried growing your own? we have two fig trees in my backyard and always have thousands of figs to eat and make things with. we often make fig jam out of them and give them away as gifts...but look into growing your own, you will get more than you could ever need and you dont have to pay for them!
Reply:i hear that you can find them on a fig tree
Reply:The figs will be ripe here in Tx starting next month and man they're everywhere.
Reply:go to a nice upscale fruit market, they should have them. and if not, they may be able to special order them for you. I had an Italian neighbor who brought a whole flat of them to a barbecue we had, so i know they must be available like this. Your best bet is to call around, so u will not have to traipse all over town to find what u need
Reply:Its not fig season, I imagine, but try organic food stores or farmer's markets. Figs are extremely delecate when fresh and ripe, so they aren't common in regular grocery stores. Or you can try reconstituting dried figs (much more available) in a desired liquid, like wine or bourbon (a great dessert, btw).
Reply:you can get them from the grocery store. But if you want them fresh, then you have to find a fig tree and pick them before dawn...because they taste better, I think.
Reply:they alwyas have dreid figs right at the shoprite, with the nuts. If you are adding to wine they should be fine.
