Was Charybdis a fig tree?

The fig tree is actually SYKEUS or Syceus, who was one of the Gigantes who waged war on the gods. Fleeing from Zeus, his mother Gaia (the Earth) hid him in her bossom, transforming him into the first fig-tree. Charybdis was was once a nymph-daughter of Poseidon and Gaia who flooded lands for her father's underwater kingdom until Zeus turned her into a monster and have her suck in and out water three times a day creating whirlpools. She lived in a cave at one side of the Strait of Messina, opposite the monster Scylla, the two of them forming a dangerous threat to passing ships.

Reply:In Greek mythology, Kharybdis or Charybdis was a sea monster, daughter of Poseidon and Gaia. She takes form as a monstrous mouth. She swallows huge amounts of water three times a day and then belches them back out again creating whirlpools. Charybdis was originally a naiad, sea-nymph who stole Heracles' cattle until Zeus became angry and threw her into the sea, and as punishment, turned her into a sea monster.
