Who are fig newtons named after?
Newton, Massachusetts, the city where they were invented.

There are a number of interesting sites there about the Fig Newton...third best selling cookie in America. It was created in Cambridgeport, Mass. in 1891. Several cities were considered as it's namesake; Newton, Mass. won out.
Reply:Fig Newtongs = Fig tree of course. Newton, not sure it was either Mass. or Iowa.
