Are fig newtons good for the digestive system?

It depends on the brand... You cannot just say yes or no when there is so many different brands.

Nabisco recently came out with a "WHOLE GRAIN" version has 13 grams of sugar... I realize that some of the sugar is natural in figs, but it is also in the ingredient list as added.

There is an organic brand ... I cannot think of the name now but It is whole grain, no sugar added, and that is good for you.

Unfortunately, most companies add so much sugar or fat that they make things unhealthy. Then, they try to pawn it off as healthy... one company even has whole grain nacho or tortilla they them fry in in a bunch of fat and try to make you think it is good for you. That is coming close to the way tobacco companies used to add stuff to cigarettes and make you think they were good.

I think it is time for a class action law suit against these food companies for trying to pawn off unhealthy food on unsuspecting consumers and lure the children into force in parents to buy it.

Good luck...

Yes they are high in fiber, love those things.....you just made me hungry for those.
Reply:Honestly, no. The Fat Free Fig Newtons, have only 1g of dietary fiber which is the part of carbs that help you digest easier.

HOWEVER, i eat figs b/c they are one of the FEW snacks that have no Partially Hydrogenated Oils, which are horrible and found in almost ALL snacks. Partially Hydrogenated Oils are bad b/c they are not natural and serve as stored fat to your body =( you don't want to eat too much partially hydrogenated anything.

Mmm.. Fig newtons =)
Reply:yes, fig is very good at cleaning out your system.
Reply:Figs are high in fiber so they'll help clean you out. They are also really high in sugar, so you may want to moderate your intake. If it's fiber you're looking for, a stalk of celery will do wonders.
