I am searching for a character i remember reading in grade school named mr fig or figg. please give any info?

it was in a grade school reader.possibe publish in 1977-81 mr fig lived in a mushroom house. he was friend with various animals.

There are a couple kids books with a Mr. Fig character; one written by Margaret Early expressly for learning to read in schools (1987). Another by Cullinan (1989). Both for 2-3 graders, out of print now but you can find them for a buck or so on E-Bay and Amazon
