The fig tree that didn't bear fruit was cursed and withered and died---this is like the Christian?

who does no good works. Would you say the one who delivers bad fruit is worse off?

Absolutely correct.

And yes, I would say so. When Jesus said the road is narrow, He said alot more than that. Faith is nothing if it is a dead faith, meaning not producing fruit.

Some would have others believe that all you have to do (DO - isn't that a work in itself??) is say this little sinners prayer and act all righteous, and WHAM! you're saved forever. On the contrary - the Bible specifically tells us, more than once, that we will be judged according to our deeds.
Reply:Correct Midge,I am waiting to see how the saved respond to this and how they re-interpret it to wiggle out of the responsibilty of it.
Reply:Epistle of James backs you up.
Reply:Actually, it is believed this was a sort of parable against the Jews and Jewish leadership. They looked good, had good "leaves", but did not bear fruit. Good works in a believer comes from who He is in Christ, not to become a believer.
Reply:yes
Reply:Oh yes.
Reply:That must have been meant as a lesson. Anything useless in the service of God have to be destroyed eventually. Or, the Lord simply ended the fig tree's suffering. and the apostles made a big thing out of it.
