What is there to learn and why did Christ tell us to learn the parable of the fig tree?

Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

Mat 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

What is there to learn and why did Christ tell us to learn the parable of the fig tree?
Israel is the fig tree. Summer is the beginning of the end times. And when the tree puts forth leaves ( the Restoration of Israel in 1948) the end times has started. And the generation of Jews born after 1948 will not pass away until all prophesy has come to pass. And Jesus es' intent for us is also in chapter 24 . It says, " let no one deceive you ". For we will all know at the very same instant when the real Christ returns. Not so with satan when he comes as the CHEAP knock off.
Reply:1. To bear spiritual fruit for Jesus.

2. That Jesus is coming back very soon, and

3. You can tell He is coming back by the signs of the times.
Reply:the fig tree is the tree of life for all the animals in the jungle that feed from it
Reply:Silver speaks truth, yet Jesus spoke more generally to the entire age not just the Jewish generation at that time. This cycle of decadence has been repeated many times in the past 2000 years. Yet he spoke of the Spring giving life to the fig branch which then bears good fruit. The age he spoke of is the age of Pisces, the fish, which has lasted approximately 2000 years. We can see the green branch emerging now even if there are many shriveled ones on the tree.
Reply:He is telling them to look at the signs... he is reminding them that they can tell seasons by the appearance of the fig tree... but he is also letting them know that the Messiah has arrived %26amp; salvation is at hand.. telling them to look at the signs as told in the old scripture..........to identify the Messiah.......

Reply:Jesus used the reference to a fig tree to appeal to His disciple's knowledge of the seasons. Just as they knew that when the fig tree blossomed, summer was near, so they should know that once the signs began appearing, the end of the Age was near. The fig tree was not meant to represent Israel there, but the signs of the end times.
Reply:The end of time. Praise the LORD.
Reply:Simply put, Jesus is using the budding of the fig tree to illustrate a very important point about His second coming. Just as we can tell the times of the seasons, we can too know the season of His coming by all the events that will happen foretold in this chapter. Are we there yet in the moments before Christ? Definitely! But we are to work, as good Soldiers of Christ, while night hasn't yet fallen permanently, but live as if it could be tonight.
Reply:the presence of a fruitful fig tree was considered to be a symbol of blessing and prosperity for the nation of israel. likewise, the absence or death of a fig tree would symbolize judgment and rejection. symbolically, the fig tree represented the spiritual deadness of israel, who while very religious outwardly with all the sacrifices and ceremonies, were spiritually barren because of their sins. by cleansing the temple and cursing the fig tree, causing it to whither and die, Jesus was pronouncing his coming judgment of israel and demonstrating his power to carry it out. it also teaches the principle that religious profession and observance isn't enough to guarantee salvation, unless there is the fruit of genuine salvation evidence in the life of the person. hope this helped
Reply:The fig tree represents the nation of Isreal ,at that time.No fruit means that they were unable to reach thier spiritual potential when bound by the laws of Moshe.
Reply:This section of Matthew is about what is about to happen. My view is that Jesus is saying that the signs are all pointing to something dramatic happening and soon. In retrospect we might say that it referred to the resurrection, the ascension and the destruction of the temple
Reply:What is to be learnt is that our lives must be fruitful and there is judgement on the unfruitful life. We are told to learn the parable so that we will be conscious of the fact that Jesus is coming soon. As the Bible says that Jesus said at a point in His ministry - I must work the work of Him who sent me while it is yet day, night cometh when no man can work.
Reply:He si saying that there are signs that we should watch for so that we will know that his return is near. The signs that he mentions, though are things that happen during the revelation period. My question is, Was he speaking only to the Jews or is our teachings on the rapture incorrect? I think that this section of Scripture requires more thought than what the church tends to give it.

BTW, there seem to be a number of people who don't understand why you have blocked them. I personally like to talk to people who disagree with me. I look at it as an opportuniy to share my faith.
