I have never done any type of canning but I would love to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Is there a easy way to make fig preserves?
Here is a couple of Fig preserve recipes
5 lbs. peeled figs
3 lbs. sugar
Use just enough water to wet sugar. Let come to a good boil. Add figs to syrup and cook until figs are pink. Let syrup boil down until thick. Place in jars and seal. This is an old recipe that my mother used and makes delicious preserves.
6 cups Peeled Ripe Figs
3 cups Sugar
Two 3 oz pkg Strawberry Jello
*** Combine all ingredients in large saucepan. Cook, stirring constantly, until thick (about 40 minutes).
Pack hot jam into hot jars leaving 1/4 inch head space and process pints 15 minutes in a boiling water bath canner.
Microwave
2 cups Figs
3 cups Sugar
1 Sliced Lemon
*** Combine figs and sugar in a (2 quart) measure. Cover loosely and let sit 8 hours or over night. Stir in lemon slices.
*** Microwave (high 100%) 15 to 20 minutes or until sugar is dissolved and coats the tines of a fork. Remove lemon slices.
*** Pour preserves into hot sterilized jars. Top with rubber banded lids and screw tops. Process 20 minutes in a boiling water bath. Let stand until cool. Check to be sure lids have sealed.
Yield: 4 Half Pints
Enjoy!
