If God didn't want Adam and Eve to wear fig leaves, why do we wear clothes?

Should we return to innocence and dress the way they did before the fall? Why else would babies be born without clothes unless that pleases God?

If God didn't want Adam and Eve to wear fig leaves, why do we wear clothes?
One reason is probably because people aren't going to be innocent anymore, they would be staring at others and lusting after them.
Reply:In Judaism, Adam and Eve did not have bodies until after they obtained the knowledge that God had tried to forbid them from.



Souls don't need fig leaves or clothing.
Reply:because after the human race sinned and ate of the tree, we relized our nakedness and we felt ashamed. God knew this immeditaly and made clothes from fig leaves and GAVE them to adam and eve. so im guessing we are still to wear them.
Reply:God made them naked because they were without sin and innocent. But when they were tempted by the devil and decided to partake fruit from the tree of knowledge and know good and evil like God and make their own decisions instead of God's, they knew they were naked in their sin. So God clothed them with animal skins-His first sacrifice by the way to help man, leading eventually to His own sacrifice as Christ on the cross.

Reply:Before the fall lust was not an issue. Now that it is, clothing is necessary. Not to mention they provide protection from the elements.
Reply:I've been to a nude beach and BELIEVE me, some people NEED clothes. Eww.
Reply:Because they were without sin for a little while. No ridicule from others....no "others" to be ridiculed by anyway.



No mocking, no shame, no pettiness, no pride, etc etc.



Today we subscribe to societal rules, so we suffer shame, disgrace, mockery and a host of other derogatory things that can only be conjured up by shallow, petty and sinful human beings.

Reply:Where the climate permits, yes we should all be able to be comfortably nude. I can't see that happening in the very near future, sadly.
Reply:At the time Adam and Eve did not have any knowledge of sin, knowledge, or of life in general. But after they ate from the tree of knowledge they became aware of their difference and felt shameful so they covered up.



If only they would of drank out of the fountain of life first and then ate of the tree of knowledge then it wouldn't of mattered because we'd all be imortal.



Just think though that if they hadn't ate from the tree of life, there'd be no sex (just kidding). Anyway, now we are stuck wearing clothes except for us who live out in the country where no one can see and we lay out in the nude (haha) but there are countries out there that it is part of their culture to be naked for they know no better.

When they sinned GOD made them clothes to wear. He knew they'd need the protection.



Genesis 3:21

Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
Reply:Don't forget, the world was very different before the flood of Noah. There are verses which talk about a second layer of water above the land in the atmosphere which gave the whole world a huge greenhouse effect. Then all that water came down with Noah when the floodgates of heaven opened and the world was forever changed. It was the perfect paradise until the sin of Adam and Eve. Its basic human instinct to sit there and say, wow i'm naked. Adam and Eve would never have given it a thought had they not touched the fruit. And they didn't need it because the world was perfect temperature all the time. When Adam hid, one of the first things he said was that he hid because he was naked and felt ashamed. God was upset with them and punished all mankind from then on but then made clothes for them out of his grace and gave his Son up for that original sin.

Reply:Read Genesis closely and see that Adam and Eve realized they were cold, sought shelter, and tried to make clothes without knowing how. The LORD GOD had to make clothes for them.

Reply:They did not have to wear anything but then after the fall the first animal had to die for the clothes.
Reply:God made the first set of clothes for them. He killed an animal and took its skin to clothe them. This was the first death recorded in the Bible.

Reply:Because we would get cold and we would get frost bite. and times have advanced and God knows we have to survive if we want to live. and God knows we have to wear clothes. and i think the reason why God didnt want adam and eve to wear figs was because it might of been sinning and Jesus didnt exsisted before then .
