The fig tree is an old established tree that produces wonderful shade ... BUT ... it makes a terrible mess when the fruit drops all over the ground.
Can I do anything to a fig tree to make it stop bearing fruit?
There is nothing you can do to prevent it from setting fruit.

Reply:outside of digging it up,theres no way.i burned one to the ground once,it came right back,bigger and better.

Reply:I would hit the tree with a very strong water jet when it starts to bloom and reduce the amt of blossoms which is where the fruit comes from.
Reply:Collect the figs and give them away to your friends. Fig jam is the best!!!!
