My family and I have had our fig tree for years and you want to make sure it has plenty of moisture and if you put down any mulch make sure it's hay mulch it'll help hold in the moisture to grow plump ripe figs.

Mind that once your fig tree starts getting bigger your going to get pounds and pounds of figs so to make sure that the majority of your nice ripe figs don't go bad start making and canning either fig jam, fig jellies or fig perserves it's useful once you start doing this that way whenever there is an emergency or natural disaster you have a little bit of food storage built-up. Oh and don't worry once you start canning it's sooooo much fun.
Reply:Water them, feed them in the summer. Talk to them all the time.
Reply:If its in a pot they like to be kept root bound, and prune

and tie into wires on a wall, dont overwater.tough plants.
