Sig fig question- Are zeros to the right of a decimal point significant?
if there is a decimal point in the number than all trailing zeros are significant. so in 21180.0 the answer is 6

EDIT

zeros after the decimal are significant if your talking about chemistry. if it is in scientific notation then all numbers shown are significant otherwise they would be represented by zeros.so yes your right about it having 4.
Reply:Nope. They aren't if it's just say, 25.0. But they are if they number is something like 25.04.
Reply:All zeros appearing to the right of an understood decimal point or nonzeros appearing to the right of a decimal point are significant. Example: '12.2300' has six significant figures: 1,2,2,3,0 and 0. The number '0.00122300' still only has six significant figures (the zeros before the '1' are not significant). In addition, '12.00' has four significant figures.

I know sig figs can be really confusing ^^...
Reply:No, they are not significant... it′s the same if you write 21180 or 21180.0

It thay numer, there are only 5 significant numbers ^^
Reply:5

56.0101

The 1st 0 is not significant but the 2nd one is. So this examle has 5 significant digits also.
