Who has eaten a raw fig?

my granparents used to have a fig tree....it was a long time ago... if you've eaten one---how long ago was it? has anyone seen one in a grocery store?

Who has eaten a raw fig?
My mother just got back from Italy and she brought back fresh figs. I ate them about 1 month ago. I really love fresh figs with fresh goat cheese and walnuts in a port wine reduction sauce. Yummy. No, I've never seen fresh figs in the grocery store.
Reply:I have eaten raw figs and they

are delicious. They are also

highly nutritious. Many wonderful baked goods can be made from figs. They are

(almost) a perfect food.
Reply:yes, i've eaten tons right off the tree in Greece, my parents have fig trees. the trees are very grand looking and figs are sooooooooooo sweet and good, drying them only ruins them!!
Reply:I have, my grandparents own a tree. When they are in seasons we go to the tree and eat them right there... I go to their house every year so it's not like they are bad for you...
Reply:Yes I have, fresh off the tree. It was sweet with some small seeds (just like the ones in figNewton cookies). They sell them at alot of farmers markets.
Reply:yes ans if they are ripe they are orgasmic!!! the last time I had a good one was probably a year a go. You can probably find them at one of those organic health nut supermarkets. OR even better try to grow your own
Reply:I grew up in a little town in Central California and down at the end of our long driveway (I grew up on a Ranch) was the BIGGEST fig tree I have ever seen...we used to eat purple almost black figs all Summer long, they were about the size of a tennis ball...they were soooooo Goooood...but I haven't seen any around in years...during the Summer, try fresh fruit/vegetable stands. They might have them.
Reply:Yes. They are beautiful as long as they are ripe enough. I ate one last month which was bought from a big fruit and veg shop in the city. I'm not sure when they are in season.
Reply:I eat raw figs during the summer. I rarely see them at American supermarkets, however I usually see them at Asian markets once the weather gets warmer. Good stuff.
