Could the Fig Tree be the "Tree of Knowledge"?

"And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they [were] naked; and they sewed FIG LEAVES together, and made themselves aprons."

Genesis 3:7

Could the Fig Tree be the "Tree of Knowledge"?
We may never know, but to me it seems unlikely for the following reasons:

1) If you had been standing there next to the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and had just sinned a big major sin, and your eyes were opened for the first time, would you stand around gawking or would you get out of there? I would leave, and quickly.

2) Also, there was another tree in the Garden, the Tree Of Life. It seems that this tree is of medicinal value. One of the reasons humans are mortal now is that we have been removed from the Tree of Life. When Adam and Eve were banned from the garden, the garden was closed to humans from that point on. This is when humans began dying.

In Revelation, we find that we are put back in connection with the Tree of Life, in abundance.

I imagine that when the garden closed, there were no special trees outside of its boundaries.
Reply:No. It's a parable about how the Jews were rejected for waiting for the Messiah to arrive, rather than acting as if he already had.
Reply:According to some Midrashim, allegorical stories, your are 100% correct.
Reply:I hope so, figs are much tastier than apples.
Reply:Maybe. It could be the "tree of clothing," and it is definitely the "tree of delicious fruit-filled snacks!"
Reply:They ate a apple, sounds to me like it was a apple tree.
Reply:They were sourrounded of different trees, the fig tree could just be the nearest around or the one with better leaves to sew togheter.

I tend to think the tree of knowledge was unique and not a fruit tree known by us today.
