Is a Fig Newton a Pastry, or a cookie?

Before you go on saying it is a cookie, consider the facts. What makes a cookie a cookie, and what makes a pastry a pastry? Which of these is the fig newton most similar to?

They say it is a cookie, but it does have more similar qualities of a pastry.

Maybe you should message the Fig Newton people about that.

They are trying to brain wash us into thinking pastries are cookies!
