How do you care for a fig tree?
voting on an answer because it's funny doesn't help the person with a serious question. answering just to be funny doesn't help either Report It
Reply:plant it in a pot even if in the ground as they will become invasive

apart from that they are very easy to trim and look after like a normal plant with feed!
Reply:I assume you are referring to the edible type (FICUS carica)and not one of it's ornamental relatives? (like the FICUS benjamina of house plant fame) Fast growing, spreading at least as wide as high. not fussy about soil. prune lightly each winter, cutting out dead wood, crossing branches and low hanging branches that interfere with traffic. pinch back runaway shoots in any season. avoid deep cultivation so not to damage surface roots. avoid high nitrogen fertilizers as that can stimulate leafy growth at the expense of fruit. keep gophers and birds away. most trees will put out two crops per season. the first comes early summer on last years wood. the second, more important one comes in later summer or early fall from current tears growth. protect from the birds as the fruit ripens. some cheep tree netting draped over limbs will keep most birds away. many, many varieties. some have black or dark purple fruit, others from green to a thin skinned white. for best info for your own neighborhood, contact your counties cooperative extension or farm advisor's office. smart people just sitting 'round waiting to answer all your home garden questions. enjoy.
