Good question! Pruning a fig tree is best in early to mid spring. However, you can still get a good crop next year if you prune it late in the fall. Never prune until frost is gone and/or before frost returns (i.e. April - late May %26amp; late September - early November). Pruning any other time could damage your tree. Hope this helps.
Is it too late to prune my fig tree?
always prune when the tree is dormant in the winter, this way the life blood (sap) of the tree is in the roots, and can not be contaminated, remove dead or damaged branches and shape the tree. if you are going to use cuttings find
a good branch tip and cut about 6-8 inchs off, you can wrap these in newspaper and store in the bottom drawer of the fridge til spring and pot them for potted or out door use in the spring!!!
Reply:The absolute best time is when the tree is dormant in the winter... prune out dead diseased or damage limbs any time... and don't prune back more than 1/3 of the tree this could damage it...
