The bible says because they were ashamed. But they had been husband and wife for a while, according to the bible. And there were no other people on the planet. Most husbands and wives are comfortable with each other's nudity, aren't they? This would make more sense to me if there had been other people on the planet.
Why did Adam and Eve wear fig leaves?
Doesn't make sense to me either. If nudity is shameful, why didn't God create Adam and Eve with clothes on?
Reply:Because they did not know how to blush!
Reply:They were not ashamed because they were naked. They were ashamed because they disobeyed God, and God was watching. They were ashamed because their sin was exposed.
God clothed them because, for the first time, they realized they were naked.
Reply:There was no need for modesty before the fall.
It didn't matter to them that they were naked.
Reply:It wasn't about being naked with Eve. It had to do with his relationship with God. Before he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and bad, Adam had a good relationship with God. The immediate consequence of their disobeying God’s law regarding the forbidden fruit was that the two of them “went into hiding from the face of God.” Why did they do that? Adam confessed: “I was afraid because I was naked and so I hid myself.” (Genesis 3:8-10) Adam’s relationship with his heavenly Father and his view of himself had changed. He was ashamed and no longer felt comfortable in God’s presence.
Reply:You need to restudy Genesis.........
Reply:Because the bible is riddled with conflicting information.
Reply:It is because they ate the forbidden fruit. It opened their eyes to see that they were naked. There is no reasoning for it other than that. And that showed God that they had eaten the fruit, even though he already knew.
Reply:It was all the rage in Paris that year.

OR
THE BOOK OF THE ROLLS.
When he awoke and saw Eve he rejoiced over her and lived with her, and she was in the pleasant garden of Paradise. God clothed them with glory and splendour. They outvied one another in the glory with which they were clothed, and the Lord crowned them for marriage, the Angels congratulated them
....
When he and she ate the deadly fruit they were bereft of their glory, and their splendour was taken from them, and they were stripped of the light with which they had been clothed. When they looked at themselves, they were naked of the grace which they had worn, and their shame was manifest to them; they made to themselves aprons of fig-leaves
Reply:Before they ate the forbidden fruit they didn't know what sin (lustfullness) was. After they ate it they were embarrassed by their nudity I'm not sure if it was because of seeing each other or because God saw them .(probably both) They wore the fig leaves to cover themselves.
Reply:Genesis 3:8
When they heard the sound of the Lord God moving about in the garden at the breezy time of day, the man and his wife HID themselves from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
Genesis 3:10
He (Adam) answered "I heard you in the garden but I was afraid, because I was naked, so I hid myself."
Genesis3:21
For the man and his wife the Lord God made leather garments, with which he clothed them.
Reply:Most husbands and wives are comfortable with each other's nudity? Yes, but not in the open.
"This would make more sense to me if there had been other people on the planet."
They feel the need to hide their nudity form God.
